Does anyone else think that John Cleese is over-rated?

Cleese continues to get the lion's share of attention for his work in Monty Python when, by the Python members own accounts, Chapman was the more surreal/anarchic imagination. Isn't it a bit unfair that Cleese's supressed rage is preferred more than Palin's superbly understated performances? As for Fawlty Towers, it was actually relatively safe comedy by Python standards- a relatively ordinary setting, Basil as the villain and everyone else as innocent victims of his rage. For really imaginative comedy, try Reginald Perrin (or Monty Python). True, the scripts were relatively sharp for the time but there were few episodes.
