Do I have an gum infection? (more info in details)?

Within the last 2 years ive had a bit of work done to a problematic tooth. It had a cavity for about 7 years i wasnt aware of that eventualy led a good 1/3 of the inner side fracturing off. I went to the dentist and then learned of the cavity (luckly enough it hadnt been working its way to the nerves yet just creating that fault line) had a root c done and some shaping then a temp cap put in place. The cap was very painful and near impossible to chew with, and then it came loose all of a sudden. Went back to the dentists and he put it back on with supposedly stronger cement and for a time it didnt bother me that much to chew on however recently it has. Though, it hasnt been bothering me as bad as it originaly did. It almost always bleeds a bit when i brush it as well. Wondering if i have an infection. It did bleed a bit when i brushed it before it was replaced.
