What happened to rap, its so horrible now

Im 31, but I said it about 8 years ago that it was starting to go downhill and it SUCKS bad right now. Nas has also said it. I just listened to a new Three Six Mafia song and man did they sell out since winning the grammy. I used to love them. Their old stuff is good, they got this new sound now, horrible. What is your opinions on what happened? Chances are, if your 24 or younger, you werent around for raps best years, the 90's
